Children learn through play and hands-on experiences. With this philosophy, the curriculum that we follow are guidelines provided by the Department of Public Instruction and based on sound principles of early childhood growth and development criteria established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Planned experiences during each unit of study will further each child’s understanding of reading and language, science and math, music and art. Interwoven through our units are goals for physical development, social and emotional development and spiritual development.

Children will learn through and enjoy their own play experiences and guided activities. Teachers will use many tools such as puzzles, beginner readers, phonetic awareness games, hands-on math and science manipulatives, books and stories, music and nature appropriate to the child’s age and development.

Our three’s and Pre-K classes have Library and Music/Chapel weekly. In the library, they are able to listen to a book read by our Preschool librarian, Mrs. Lee Ann. They are also able to check out a book to take home for the week. In Music & Chapel, we use the Orange Kids curriculum. Each month, the three’s and Pre-K classes learn a new Bible Verse and song. Every week, the classes listen to a new and true bible story by Ollie the Owl.

Our Preschool operates on a calendar approved by the Preschool Board. Our calendar closely matches the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school calendar other than start and end date.
